‘Dollhouse’ Rumours & Writers’ Strike
The writers' strike is now in effect which means that Joss's and Eliza's new show, Dollhouse will not be happening any time soon as it has now been put on hold - it all depends on if the issues are resolved. Read more at the wonderful new site, Dollverse.
In casting news, Joss has confirmed to Ausiello that a male character will be involved with her Echo alter ego, but, Whedon noted, "not in a buddy way. Their relationship will take some time to come together and will be constantly evolving." If you're thinking Buffy and Angel, Part Deux, think again. "Echo is not capable of having a true love," he insists, since she becomes someone new, body and soul, every week. On the other hand, he contradicts, because of that, in a way, "She'll have a true love every week. It's part of her plight that when she feels something strongly, it gets taken away from her. And the person she's closest to in the show, her relationship with him will not in any way be simple. Nobody in this piece comes away clean."
There are also rumours that Buffy alum, James Marsters, may be joining the show - I'll be sure to keep you guys posted on that!

Eliza Returns to TV with Joss Whedon!
Good news! As you may know, Eliza signed a development deal with FOX several months back and it's now come to fruition: Eliza is the lead and producer of a brand new Joss Whedon show called Dollhouse and it already has a 7 episode commitment over at FOX instead of just a pilot. The synopsis and links to various articles are below - are you as excited as I am?!
Echo (Eliza Dushku) [is] a young woman who is literally everybody's fantasy. She is one of a group of men and women who can be imprinted with personality packages, including memories, skills, language—even muscle memory—for different assignments. The assignments can be romantic, adventurous, outlandish, uplifting, sexual and/or very illegal. When not imprinted with a personality package, Echo and the others are basically mind-wiped, living like children in a futuristic dorm/lab dubbed the Dollhouse, with no memory of their assignments—or of much else. The show revolves around the childlike Echo's burgeoning self-awareness, and her desire to know who she was before, a desire that begins to seep into her various imprinted personalities and puts her in danger both in the field and in the closely monitored confines of the Dollhouse.
