Joss Whedon is the TV writer when it comes to dramas that showcase girls kickin' butt (who wasn't motivated to hit the gym after watching Buffy's vampire slaying moves?). So it made sense to call up the actresses of his new series Dollhouse, now in its second season, for SELF's partner workout. Costars Eliza Dushku (a Buffy alum!) and Dichen Lachman toned together to show you how dropping pounds is better with a buddy.

Eliza's Get Fit Tips:
"If I work out, it makes a difference between whether I have a clear, present mind or a messy, clogged and irritable one!"

"Weight training is especially important in addition to doing the exercises properly with correct alignment and a clean diet. It makes me burn more throughout my day and feel amazing."

"I grew up playing outdoors, always running around playing sports with my brothers, signing up for any and all adventures that were around. Let the world be my playground!"

Dichen's Get Fit Tips:
"I find with the gym it's very hard to motivate. Having someone to work out with, you end up motivating each other, and it's a great substitute for gym equipment!"

"Long hours mean you have to deal with fatigue, and being fit can help your general health. It helps to maintain a healthy lifestyle so you can do what is required."

"There are some simple things I do that just keep me moving: walking up stairs instead of taking the lift, parking further away than usual from your destination, cleaning my own apartment (putting some elbow grease in can break a sweat!).

“Dollhouse’’ star Eliza Dushku breaks a serious sweat in the new issue of Self magazine, which hits stands later this month. The actress, who grew up in Watertown, does a multi-page fitness feature with her costar Dichen Lachman . The “Dollhouse’’ duo are photographed doing palm pats and belly busters. Says Dushku: “I’m addicted to endorphins: good, clean, healthy and free!’’

It looks like Eliza shall be gracing the September 2009 cover of the UK edition of FHM -- it is the same photoshoot as the March Maxim cover, but looks to perhaps contain outtakes, judging by the preview page currently found in the August issue of FHM (UK) -- a preview is to your right & the gallery link is below, enjoy!

On-screen in Fox’s Dollhouse, she’s a lethal hottie who can negotiate a hostage release or recover stolen art for the Greek government. Offscreen, she’s the show’s producer. Either way, you should stay on Eliza’s good side. In March, the former Angel and Buffy babe revealed to us that in addition to working 14-hour days doing many of her own stunts on the show, she still makes time for hygiene. “I love catching a glimpse of my tattoos when I strip down to take a shower.” Eliza, you’ve delivered a roundhouse kick to our heartstrings.

ALLURE: Are you comfortable with nudity?
ELIZA DUSHKU: "I grew up with three brothers, and I was never shy about covering up. It got to the point where my mom was like, 'OK, honey, it's time to put some clothes on now.'"

ALLURE: What about these days?
ED: "I'll strip down to my underwear and my Ugg boots when I eat lunch in my trailer."

ALLURE: How would you compare this to filming a love scene?
ED: "Love scenes are much more multidimensional, because often you have two people who have just met and you're rolling around, and it's more awkward than when you're posing alone."
