‘Alphabet Killer’ Premiere
Exciting news! Delayed film, The Alphabet Killer, had a private premiere Thursday night (Nov. 7) and will be opening in Los Angeles and New York City later this month — be sure to check out your local listings as the more people who see this film, the longer the theatre run, and the more theatres/cities it shows in.
I came across a new MQ still which has been added to the gallery; a preview is to your right. The article explaining the private premiere, with quotes from the crew & Eliza, is posted under the cut.
The movie “The Alphabet Killer” is loosely derived from the real-life murders from the 1970s in Rochester.
It’s a dark film–with moments calculated to make you jump.
Hollywood veterans play major roles, including Cary Elwes, best known for his role in the “Princess Bride,” Timothy Hutton and Eliza Dushku in the lead role.
Executive Producer and Rochester native Greg Polisseni has struggled for two years to sell the film. “Trying to get a movie into theaters is very difficult. You’ve got a lot of competition,” he said.
Eventually he struck a deal with Anchor Bay, and at a private premier Thursday night, Polisseni had the chance to take it all in. “Just to see the final version, it’s amazing — the clarity, the sound, the quality, the color!” he said.
Eliza Dushku plays a psychologically damaged cop who can’t let go of the case. When she spoke with us she said, “I had to, at times, be in a dark place, and I’ve never really played a character like that…the horror surrounding the case and the story just drove this woman over the edge.”
The film next opens in Los Angeles and New York City later this month. There’s only one way to convince theaters across the country to pick up “The Alphabet Killer.”
“If people keep coming to the movie…the more cities we’ll get,” Polisseni said.
The movie shows Friday night at Pittsford Cinemas in Pittsford Plaza –
Its run will be determined by the size of the audience the movie attracts.
